Dolce and Gabbana designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been sentenced to 18 months in jail after being convicted on charges of failing to pay 40 million euros to Italian tax authorities.
The court upheld a guilty ruling that had been made in June 2013. The sentence was originally at 20 months, but was reduced to 18 because of the statute of limitations in Italian law.
The designers had recently tried to appeal their jail sentence, but lost it. The case will now be appealed to Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation.
The brand’s accountant, Luciano Patellito, also received a sentence of 18 months in prison.
